  1. I had absolutely no idea! I cannot believe all of the wonderful uses with those tiny silica bags. I will start collecting them.

  2. All of these uses and I have been tossing them this whole time! I will definitely implement some of these tips for these uses and thanks for putting this list together!

  3. I keep silica gels that are included in the bags that I purchase but I did not realize that there are other uses of it as well! I am not throwing any of it anymore for sure.

  4. Not worth the risk to my pets. Not worth it in general is there are other similar products that are not toxic. And suggesting put it near the pet food bowl but don’t let the pets get it, is too risky and just stupid. Throw the bags out!!

  5. I collect them and would put a pack in a bag of brown sugar, a large bottle of gravy, flour, powdered species, etc., to keep them from getting hard as a rock.

  6. My mother told me about theese when I was a little girl. I wonder how she knew, there was no internet here at that time.

  7. Thanks for the great tips and I save them for storing my vitamin supplements n a 2$ tackle box. Holds plenty daily, silica packs keep them fresh

  9. I would suggest sewing a small fabric bag around the silica bag to prevent anyone or anything from being able to come in contact with the gel to injest or otherwise be harmed while you use it.

  10. I knew they are good for moisture and always keep them. My shop is in my garage and temperature change causes moisture so i put them in all the drawers of my tool chests to protect my tools from rust.

  11. This year I began breaking them apart and put ingredients into soil that I sprinkle over seed when I start them in the house. Use the ones with charcoal as well to keep away molds.

  12. Also great to put inside of your carved pumpkin at Halloween. They decay slower with the silica packets at the bottom of the pumpkin.

  13. The only tip you have given that’s not great, is about drying a phone out. It’s actually the worst thing you can do as it damages the parts, you should take a water damaged phone in a bag still wet to a technician. My brother fixes phone for a living and said never dry them out as they can’t be saved. Sounds crazy I know but he has been a phone tech for over a decade. Just a thought, no criticism intended.

  14. I save a few of them in little draw string bags and stuff the m in the toes of my shoes to absorb moisture.
